Time Management Tips

1.Count all your time as time to be used and make every attempt to get satisfaction out of every moment.
2.Find something to enjoy in whatever you do.
3.Try to be an optimist and seek out the good in your life.
4.Find ways to build on your successes.
5.Stop regretting your failures and start learning from your mistakes.
6.Remind yourself, "There is always enough time for the important things." If it is important, you should be able to make

7.Continually look at ways of freeing up your time.
8.Examine your old habits and search for ways to change or eliminate them.
9.Try to use waiting time-review notes or do practice problems.
10.Keep paper or a calendar with you to jot down the things you have to do or notes to yourself.
11.Examine and revise your lifetime goals on a monthly basis and be sure to include progress towards those goals on a
daily basis.
12.Put up reminders in your home or office about your goals.
13.Always keep those long term goals in mind.
14.Plan your day each morning or the night before and set priorities for yourself.

ones done as soon in the day as you can. Evaluate your progress at the end of the day briefly.
16.Look ahead in your month and try and anticipate what is going to happen so you can better schedule your time.

19.Have confidence in yourself and in your judgement of priorities and stick to them no matter what.
20.When you catch yourself procrastinating-ask yourself, "What am I avoiding?"
21.Start with the most difficult parts of projects, then either the worst is done or you may find you don't have to do all the
other small tasks.
22.Catch yourself when you are involved in unproductive projects and stop as soon as you can.
23.Find time to concentrate on high priority items or activities.
24.Concentrate on one thing at a time.

RSAF Open House 2006

Went to RSAF open house with my boyfriend. Saw some of the aircraft that were mentioned frequently in the papers but I never knew how they looked like. Especially those that had helped out with the Boxing Day Tsunami.

On 26 Dec 2004, a magnitude 9.0 earthquake occurred off the west coast of northern Sumatra, Indonesia. The earthquake generated tsunamis which swept across the Indian Ocean within hours.

Within 3 days, on the 29th Dec, the first two Chinooks reached Medan in the evening.

On the 30th Dec, an RSAF (Republic of Singapore Air Force) Chinook helicopter was the first to deliver relief aid to the people of Meulaboh with a shipment of water, food and medicine.

RSAF Chinook and Super Puma helicopters flew 143 missions, ferried 150,000kg of relief supplies and carried 2,500 passengers.

C-130 and Fokker-50 aircraft flew 76 missions, ferried 240,000kg of relief loads and carried 1,200 passengers.

Also, in Banda Aceh, the air traffic control at the airport was damaged by the earthquake and the tsunami. The airport has to be operational so that relief supplies could fly in. The SAF disassembled the mobile air traffic control tower in Singapore, packed it into aeroplanes, flew it to Banda Aceh, arrived at 11pm, unloaded it, assembled it and made it operational 5 am the next morning.

Besides rescue missions, aircraft are also involved in every year National Day Parade. The Chinook carries the 60 by 90 feet Singapore flag for the traditional State Flag fly past during National Day. For the first time this year, two Apache assault helicopters escort the Chinook during the fly past.

The F16s have also been a regular item for the parade. For this year, five F16 flew pass and did a five-way split. The sound were thundering so were the cheers.

The F-16C/D Fighting Falcon is one of the most sophisticated and advanced multi-role fighter aircraft in the world.

It is equipped with advanced avionics, a modern radar and a precision navigation system using the Global Positioning System (GPS) for air-to-air and air-to-ground missions. It is able to carry a wide range of ordnance including the AIM-7 Sparrow and AIM-9 Sidewinder air-to-air missiles, Maverick air-to-ground missiles and laser-guided bombs.

The F-16C/D can also carry the Low Altitude Navigation and Targeting Infra-Red for Night (LANTIRN) system, which allows for precision navigation and attack.

Woa miss peh, didnt koe u so active one? Involved in so many big events n had held quite a few leadership post.... Admirable.... It's neva easy to be a leader....

I think Sec sch life holds e best memories 4 me.... Cuz primary sch i was a guai guai girl who had no social life at all..... i was only involved in class stuff.... (was a monitress for 4 yrs) hee... JC life SUX e most!!!!! though i dun come frm those good good schs, but i also experienced e fun n closeness tt other schs enjoy. for neighbourhood sch, not all are naughty n rebellous students.... there are still good eggs among e bad ones..... i can vouch 4 tt....

Being a prefect had allowed me 2 experience all this.... we had quite close contact with e whole student population... it was fun but tiring at times... most of e N(A) & N(T) students were quite horrible... I had some of them putting sand into my shoes n scolding me all sorts of bad words (but their vocab of such words sux though).... but i also had a few good friends among them...
E exco had 2 plan annual camps 4 e juniors, plan teacher's day performance n lastly our investiture!!!! E experience gained in all these planning n running of events was tiring but fruitful!!! Dun u agree miss peh??? We learnt alot of stuff like how 2 plan e event, ensure that everything goes smoothly, have back-up plans ready too.... it is not easy 2 plan such big events as a tiny weeny mistake would be a big mistake 2 e rest watching e event.....
E most heart breaking thing tt happened was e planning of e teacher's day stuff.... We had 2 decorate e sch too.... my fellow prefects spent alot of effort n time 2 design a banner for teacher's day only 2 be thrown away by my prefect mistress.... We really put in our heart n soul n blood into e banner..... n she threw it in e dustbin aft seeing it in front of us... All those who help in e banner almost cried... in e end, we all went 2 a small corner n cried 2gether.... thru these events, we really bonded!!!
i din koe i had some creative cells too.... thru all this, i discovered it!!!
think those who went 4 my sch's 2004 prefect's investiture would also feel it was e best n memorable one n touching too....

i think admin work is fun!!!! i'm always involved in admin roles... 1 was being e vice-head prefect(admin) n e other was being e vice captain for my house..... i think it's fun n i've gained alot..... Sec life rawks!!!!

I finally found this bit of time to update the class blog. Super tired now after marking all BEInsights in 20 hours.

The other day we celebrated Bijun and Gerald's birthdays. Looking at the few girls so enthusiastic and committed to providing class welfare reminds me of my Secondary and JC school days. Remembered making presents, buying cakes etc. And even for a period of time, buying snacks for fellowship in church. But then, sometimes it's quite tiring to provide welfare to people. But it's a good supporting role, something suitable for me. I was never quite a leader.

The other role I enjoyed tremendously was logistics. The guys might hate it if they end up being one in the army, what they call the "sai kan" officer. I only did logistics once, in preparation for a major church camp. Our campsite was at ACS Baker and we had to wash 20 over classrooms in preparation for the camp. Also had to buy stuff from the then famous Blanco Court. And moving tyres from church to campsite, washing and drying 300 plates after dinner every night during the camp. Even though it was hard work, it was most memorable. My close church friend and I held these memories till today.

My most unexpected role was publicity officer during my Uni days. I am not a very creative person who sucks in drawing and art. I have never expected myself to come up with posters to attract people. Thanks to the computer, I didn't have to draw and I did manage to do a fairly good job over my one year duty as publicity officer.

My most disliked job is administrative duty. I was nominated for the post of vice chairperson for the freshman orientation committee of my society. Have to work with NUS admin people, drafting letters, send letters etc. Very routine and mundane work.

Geez, I am kind of upset. Can't believe Brazil lost. However France really played their best. It seems as if France wants to prove to the world that they can do it with hard work and determination. Sometimes, being good (or smart) isn't enough. Putting in your heart and soul in doing that thing makes that difference.

England might not have lost if Rooney had not been sent off. Though a red card is deemed to be too strict by many, Rooney just got to pay for his action. He wouldn't be in trouble if he would just keep his anger in check. Not to say push C. Ronaldo in front of the referee, an act of plain defiance. In life, especially in work, it is important to keep our emotions in check. Always think before you do. Managing anger seems to be something really lacking in the current generation with bullying and fights more prevalent than ever. Can flaring, screaming, shouting or punching solve anything?

This is like the first week of school and I think the amount of work I need to do is as high as Bukit Timah Hill already. I am like a nerd who mugged in the staff room till 6pm everyday.

In case you all have not realised, I am better at expressing myself through writing than in words. Also, I am brought up in traditional Chinese family and I will find it weird to hug someone or say things like I love you cos my parents have never done that to me. If not, i would have hugged those who didn't do well.

Anyway, since I can't bring myself to address that issue in class cos no time and i am scared of what will happen also, I think I can try to bring it up here. I believe most of you know that SQ is considering leaving the college. However, she has not submitted the withdrawal form. She has smsed me and told me her reasons. I had asked her to re-consider but she seemed quite sure of her decision. I know that this news has hit the class pretty hard but I do not know how to make everyone feel better.

One of her reasons is that she cannot cope. I have to say from my own experience that JC is indeed the toughest time of study life (the other being Honours year and above). Though I didn't have H1 and PW back then, my syllabus was twice more. And I was in the choir. The key to coping and success is consistent work and time management. I spent my weekends doing tutorials and assignments. I come to school at 7am to read newspaper. I spent my break time in the library reading Time magazine and Newsweek and doing GP reading logs. I seldom watch TV and I didn't have internet back then. If you don't have time, you need to make a choice. Is keeping up with work more important or doing other stuff? Always remember your reason of coming to a JC. Always keep your goal/ambition/dream in mind.

The second reason which was written in someone's blog is that she doesn't like TPJC. I didn't like NUS either. But I had a good time in University. The school is just a building. What makes school life fun is the friends you make, the activities you take part in. For some of you, you may find a sense of belonging to your CCA. If you like your CCA, that time spent would be like a form of relaxation from studies. I am quite glad to see some of you supporting each other. My JC class was not very united (cos we took different subjects, rojak class) but I found close friends in CCA whom I studied and played with. However, I am quite glad that our class now is quite united. I can see some of you supporting each other. This road is tough. Life is tough. We all need people to walk along with us, to give us a hand when we fall. Remember you are NOT alone in your walk.

Also, believe in yourself. Don't give up so easily. You will regret later on if you give up too easily.

My Genting trip 9-11 June 2006 [written on 12 June]

I just came back from Genting last night. As much as possible , try not to come back on a Sunday night. Was supposed to reach Singapore at 9pm but I only reached home at 1.30am! The jam at the causeway is atrocious.

Left Singapore early in the morning at 6.30am on the 9th. Geez, I can't sleep on the bus so was pretty bored since everyone else was sleeping. Luckily, for the later part of the journey, we played bridge to kill time. The bus stopped about 3 times for toilet breaks. But be warned, the toilets do not smell too good. Also, it may be good to bring some sweets along. At least won't feel like puking.We finally reached Genting at 1.30pm. Thought I will end up at some ulu old looking hotel but was quite shocked to see quite a grand lobby.

Fren X was saying that her friends said the rooms suck so was mentally prepared. To our relief, the room looks new. Though the space is not too big and the toilet don't have bath tub, it was good enough. After putting down our bags, we dashed for lunch (dying of hunger already though we did munch on egg tarts and bread on bus). We went to KFC and the taste is better than Singapore. Price is about the same though. Be warned, the food and drinks in First World Hotel is not cheap. Quoting from Fren K, "do I have a vegetable head that they like to chop so much" One can of coke costs S$1.75. I have no choice but to remain tired and keep awake by sheer mind power. Afterwhich we just went walking around and to the casino to watch people play. We all slept very early at 11+pm that night as we planned to wake up at 8am the next morning.

Day 2 Thrill rides
After breakfast at 9.30am, we went to buy the whole day ride ticket, quite worth it, RM$49 for both indoor and outdoor rides. We went boat cycling first, you can't possibly sit on roller coaster after breakfast right unless you plan to slim down by throwing everything up. Haha. Then the gals went to sit on a ride (can't describe lar but like those fantasy island tunnel thingy but this is on land not water lar) while the guys went to play go-kart (cos they are too heavy, =p). The ride was ok but narrow bends and quite jerky, must hold on tight or your thighs will be banged against the 'vehicle'. Then we went to play go-kart. Sigh, I have bad luck. The one I was on is so slow so it was no fun at all. And we queued 45 mins for a 5 min play. Then we went on the spinner. Those that will rise up in the air and spin higher and higher. Please close your eyes or focus on something or else you will be dizzy after that. But, that feeling is quite shiok lar. If you are afraid of heights like me, just dun look down.

After lunch, we had to rest so we took a super slow ride that go round the shopping mall. Afterwhich, we played bumper cars, quite fun. Think the lame jokes started at this point. We were quite bored cos got to wait very long so Fren K started saying lame jokes and I tried thinking of some on my own. I was pretty obsessed with it, I just keep thinking of it after that and I guessed I made everyone pretty cold. I think they really want to strangle me. Hahaha.

We played with a few more thrill rides. One of which is called the flying coaster or we call superman. You will be in lying position but actually, your feet is on some steps. Please take off your glasses if they are not tightly worn. The ride is super fast and pretty narrow bends. When it first reached the top, I don't dare to see already. Can see clouds in front only. Don't dare to look down, think I will faint. During the ride, I have to push my glasses in using my right hand a few times. Quite exciting but for me, once is enough. And as this is the main attraction, need to pay for ticket, the ride pass doesn't cover this but will get $2 discount.

Then, Fren X and Dez went for the free fall. The one that goes all the way up to the sky then suddenly drop down at super fast speed and go up and down for a few more times. If you want me to sit that, kill me first. Anyway, Fren M, fren K and I went on the ferris wheel while the two of them were playing that. Then as K, X and Dez went on the roller coaster, M and I went to sit merry go round horses (those that kids sit one) and to play the spinner one more time. Afterwhich we went on another jerky ride that fly from the outdoor park into the shopping plaza. Everyone screamed when we were above KFC. Revenge from the every minute screaming we heard the previous day. Haha. By down, I already a bit dizzy liao. The 4D motion master only made it worse. Really feel like puking after that.

We had seafood dinner then watched England vs Paraguay by standing at the shopping mall for 1 1/2 hours. The match sucks big time, with both teams playing lousy football and the ever sickening biased referee who blows the whistle at every thing possible. Then, it's to the casino. I only watched, never play. Don't have gambling luck lar. Yup, so that's about it. Quite fun lar. But don't think I will go there again unless I can only afford a short holiday...

I can't believe nearly 2 weeks of the hols is gone in a blink of an eye. Tml is the start of World Cup? Anyway, I am heading to the mountains (Genting) for a short getaway from buildings, computers, economists and books tomorrow morning. Hopefully can still watch the England match from the hotel room. Not that I am a big fan of England but I quite like a few players in there; Lampard, Rooney. My guess is that Brazil will win. Brazil pls win cos it might just be the last time that I will see Ronaldo play.

I hope while you all are having fun; be it with GSS, with Panaroma rehearsals, with World Cup etc, you are at the same time making progress with PW, with Econs project and common test preparations.

Been thinking of quite a lot of stuff. Like the value of money. More and more people especially teenagers nowadays do not seem to understand that earning money is not easy. Perhaps, when you have parents who earn 10K a month by sitting in office signing documents, you would never understand. My brother has always make fun of me saying that I am stingy. But watching my parents earn money by cents (my Dad is a grocer) , it's hard not to be stingy. What's the point of buying say a branded shirt when nobody can see the brand inside? And what's the point of spending money on impractical stuff like buying virtual things to level up? Guys, this is not against you, I am just pretty concerned how the young of today is so much influenced by online games. Some people can spend more than $50 a month on such stuff. Just think how much stuff $50 can buy for a family in rural India or China? Oh dear, how do I teach these good values to my kids next time?

Hey people, sorry for "disappearing for so long". After finishing revision, and busy marking, was away on course on 4 out of 5 days this week. Anyway, thanks for inviting me for class chalet. Come to think of it, my JC class back then didn't have a class chalet. We had BBQ though which is something I really don't like. Thanks Cheryl, Shiqi and Darren for starting the fire. And thank you Jinbo for organising this.

Actually wish I have time to talk to each of you individually to find out how you are coping with JC life. But it's just quite weird to suddenly ask "How are you coping huh?" Anyway, since I believe most of you will read this, pls do approach me if you have any problem ya. I am aware and thankful to see the friendships that are forming and the support you are giving to each other!

Anyway, just to share some fun I had yesterday with my bf. We went cycling in Pasir Park. Unlike East Coast Park, there are more turns and bends, the place is quite huge too. One end is Fisherman's Village (one place I used to hang out with my JC frens) and the other end is Aloha Loyang. And in the park, there is pony riding and a maze garden. And there is go-kart too. Anyone played before?

Hmmm, think my next destination should either be Bishan Park or tree-top walk. Amazing, though Singapore is so small, there are still many places I have not been too.

yes`!!! i cant take it anymore.
nvr felt so angry since i came here.
found most of the teachers here very nice and friendly even thou there are some exceptionals la.

and today, some teachers make me despise them even more.
it's like wtf mann.
blamin us for something we didnt do at all.
not everything is our fault alrite?!!!!
we did our job.
we helped out.
we did all the best we cud.

This is my third sports day. 2 times as a student. 1st time as a teacher. Nothing different though except that I have to watch my behaviour. Haha, can't scream and shout like some mad woman. Come to think of it, my class 98A03 is not very enthusiastic for sports day. Cos we are arts class, only got 2 boys, nothing to cheer for. And even if we girls take part in the 12X100 metres, we also can't win. Just join for fun. We like sea carnival more, somehow.

Congrats to the 4 boys for bringing glory to the class. I do hope the same glory can be achieved in terms of academic. Chance upon the list of book prize winners for College Day. That means those who top the subjects or cohort during the first year promotional exams. A lot from 05S27. So, I hope you all can look up to your seniors and aspire to do the same.

The staff race is indeed something that students like to watch. When I was a student, I remembered vididly that Mr Reynolds can run super fast. Too bad, he is away on course this time or else you all can see for yourself. But 50 metres really too short. I just picked up speed then have to pass the baton already. And I have a probia of baton cos I dropped it once during 4X100 metres relay for my sec4 class and hence caused the class to lose. Sigh.

Hence, though 100 metres is my best event, I have not won any medals yet. The funny part is I actually have with me a 4X400 metres silver medal. My Sec4 class boys are super good in running, swimming and basketball. During the heats, they came in first for the 4X400 metres race and asked us (i.e. the 4X100 m gals team) to try for the 400 metres race. So for the fun of it, we just register. But it proved quite difficult. I ran too fast in the beginning and after 220 metres, I don't have much energy left. Thanks to the competitor behind me or else I will never finish the race. This sounds really bad but she was panting so heavily that in my mind I visualize an elephant chasing after me. Cmon, if you imagine an elephant chasing you, what would you do? Run for your life right? Yup, that's how I finish the 400 metres and the team came in second.

Hi everyone,
The past few weeks have been real busy. I hope you all are adjusting fine to JC life. Haven't had time to really chit chat and find out more about you all. Everytime civics, there will be admin work. Therefore, in an attempt to get to know you all better, as well as to promote class bonding (quoting from Cheryl), I have created this blog. You may share your interests, hobbies, joys, sadness, gossips etc. Hahaha, sounds like SDU.

To start off with, I will share with you some sports that I like. As you can tell from my CCA, I like to play basketball. However, I seldom play nowadays. Either no time or can't find people to play with. My favourite basketball player is the best NBA player ever. Chicago Bulls Number 23 Michael Jordan. Another player that I like is Tim Duncan from Spurs. I don't like Shaq because his free throw is really quite lousy and I don't like Kobe Bryant because I think his personality got problem. But because I do not have SCV, I had not watched NBA for a long long time.

Nowadays I play badminton. If possible once a week with my bf. My backhand sucks big time (please don't tell the other teachers or I can't win Staff Open this year, haha)

I used to play soccer when I was in primary school either as defender or goalkeeper. It's not so easy a sport to play. Requires lots of stamina and skills. Not as easy as what we see on TV. My favourite soccer star is the one most boys dislike. Ronaldo from Brazil and currently playing for Real Madrid. He is an excellent finisher. So much more effective than Spain's captain Raul. But age is definitely catching up on him and I think I won't be able to watch him play real soon. Need to find someone else to watch. I like Frank Lampard from England too (but I don't like Chealsea) because he is handsome. Hahaha.
